Here is the recipe for my PHR Neptune paint scheme, inspired by the Clownfish — my Dropfleet ships are Koi-themed so it somehow makes sense to theme the Dropzone ground units as the reef fish.
Primer: Vallejo Mecha Black
Orange: Monument Hobbies Pro Acryl Orange
White: Monument Hobbies Pro Acryl Bold Titanium White
Red: Monument Hobbies Pro Acryl Bold Pyrrole Red
Shading: Citadel Nuln Oil (1:2 ratio with water)
Metallics: Citadel Lead Belcher
Dry brush: Citadel Necron Compound
As you can see it’s a very simple paint scheme and I didn’t do any glazing or excessive shading. Bold colors are simply weathered down and merged with a wash of Nuln Oil.
Originally I thought about using an airbrush but masking those fluid organic lines would be very hard for me. I’m afraid I would have spent more time masking than I have spent painting the miniatures with a brush!
