After about 20+ hours in RoadCraft I've came across some things that are essential but aren't obvious from the get go — I wish I've known them sooner!
Game progress is open but also isn't
After completing the first real map in Africa, you have a choice to either fight with the aftermath of a hurricane or an eartquake (yeah, I know, makes no sense) but if you go with the lower map, some of the progression will be blocked by the things unlocked in the top map. Do yourself a favor and go with the top one.
Go with the scout everywhere first
Going with the scout car triggers unlock missions, for some reason. If you go with another vehicle they might not trigger.
AI in this game is dumb AF
It pains me to say but the AI in this game is terrible. I've learned to always establish the routes in the middle of the road or try to avoid crossing the paths. After all awards are obtained I just delete the route altogether because it requires too much babysitting.
Scout cars are not equal
The pick up is the better choice for hauling things, but the jeep one is THE mobility king. I quickly switched to it and not looking back.
Learn to use recover tokens and ATV ASAP
Anything related to laying roads is painfully slow — I've learned quickly to just zip to the destination with the mobile ATV and use the mobile base "recover" feature to quickly call all vehicles I need. It's even better than hauling each vehicle one by one with the carrier truck.
You don't need to be super precise using cranes
Laying pipes or placing equipment down, you only need to make sure the placeholder is green. The part will be automatically oriented the right way. Convenient.
Use low gear to avoid tipping over
It's very very slow but also slow is fast. My vehicles rarely tip over since I started using the low gear in the mud.
I think that's all for now, do you have any other RoadCraft tips and tricks?
